This is a 10-year-old Swedish single malt from Smögen, a distillery on Sweden's west coast. The spirit was distilled from Optic barley in December 2012. It spent its last two years in tawny port casks, and the heavy peat character remains in front.
It was bottled in July 2023 at 53.8% in a 50cl bottle, as one of 1,420 bottles, without chill-filtration or added colouring.
The nose opens with dense smoke, then raisins, dates, honey-glazed nuts and cinnamon, with pineapple and cherry behind. The palate is full and oily, with blackberries, ripe orange, plums and salted peanuts. The finish is long, with smoke and dark fruit.
