Smögen – 2014 Whisky Druid (70cl, 58.3%)

A 2014 Smögen single malt from Sweden, bottled for Whisky Druid at 58.3% in a 70cl bottle. The distillery takes its name from a Swedish fishing village on the Skagerrak. Smögen is a craft distillery built by founder Pär Caldenby in the outbuildings of a former farm. It runs two small copper pot stills and a wormtub condenser, and Caldenby first separated the middle cut there in August 2010. Its heavily peated malts are made with peated malt brought in from Scotland. Smögen's single malts are generally described as powerful, with clear smoke, maritime hints and a malty sweetness.
