Smögen – 12 Year Old Distillery Estate Barley (50cl, 56.6%)

Smögen Distillery Estate Barley is a 12 year old Swedish single malt made from heavily peated barley grown on the distillery's own land. It was distilled in autumn 2011 and matured in a combination of first-fill bourbon barrels and first-fill sherry hogsheads. In February 2024 Smögen bottled 1,716 bottles at a cask strength of 56.6%, in a 50cl size, without chill-filtration or added colour. The nose brings pine wood smoke, a sweet marshmallow note and peanuts with fresh citrus. The palate is full and creamy, with malt, wood smoke, toasted oak, orange peel, vanilla and roasted almonds. The medium to long finish keeps the wood smoke, with salt, black and white pepper, iodine, chilli and dried orange peel.
