Smögen 9 Year Old 90 Proof is a Swedish single malt, bottled in 2022 at 51.4% in a 50cl bottle. This is Batch L002, also called Batch 2, a heavily peated whisky matured for nine years exclusively in first-fill ex-bourbon barrels. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured.
The nose brings pear and apple with dry hay and coastal smoke. On the palate, peat smoke and salty coastal notes meet bright citrus, nutty spice, butter and peppermint tea with rock sugar, with pepper adding a further spicy accent. The finish is long and fairly dry, keeping the peat smoke present, with lemon and salt left behind.
