Smokehead Extra Rare is a peated single malt from Ian Macleod Distillers, bottled at 40% in a 1 litre bottle. It is chill-filtered and has added colouring.
Smoke leads the character, with a little sweetness behind it.
The nose offers smoke, peat and maritime notes, with salty sea air, spice and a subtle fruitiness. On the palate the smoke is strong but balanced, with some sweetness rounding it off. The finish is long and warm, with lingering smoke and a dry edge.
