Smokehead High Voltage is a peated Islay single malt bottled at 58% in a 70cl bottle. It is the stronger addition to the Smokehead range from Ian Macleod Distillers, released in 2018 alongside the 43% Smokehead Original. It is non-chill-filtered.
Peat and smoke lead, with sea air, oat flakes, vanilla, toffee and a spicy touch of ginger on the nose. The palate starts with strong spirit and dense smoke in an almost oily texture that turns softer and creamier, with nutty, salty and citrus notes. The finish brings sweetness and pepper under slowly fading smoke, ending on a savoury salt note.
