Spey – 10 Years (Port Casks) (70cl, 46%)

This is a 10 year old single malt from the Spey distillery in Speyside, bottled at 46% as a limited edition of 3,000 bottles worldwide. The spirit matured in a combination of former bourbon casks and port casks. That gives it layers of sweetness, herbs and fruit. The nose is light and balanced, with red wine, red fruits, hazelnuts and cocoa. The palate has a lightly oily but delicate texture, with gentle fruit, white pepper, vanilla and floral notes. Toasted hazelnuts come forward later. The finish is balanced and long, with oak, herbs and a hint of wine.
