Springbank – 12 Year Old 1980s Sherry Wood (75cl, 46%)

This is an older distillery bottling of Springbank 12 Year Old, a Campbeltown single malt released in the old-style black label around the mid-1980s. The back label states that the whisky was matured in sherry wood. It is in a 75cl bottle at 46%, without colouring or chill filtration. The whisky has a deep mahogany colour and a sherried character. Bottlings of this kind are usually described as showing a distinct minerality on the palate, along with fruity notes and gentle, peppery smoke.
