This is a 30 year old Springbank, distilled on 28 May 1993 and bottled in autumn 2024. It is the Second Edition of the Claxton's Dalswinton Series, which follows a first edition from the winter of 2021/22.
The whisky matured in a bourbon hogshead. Each bottle is hand engraved with a story from the Dalswinton Estate by the artist Jamie Stryker.
The nose combines icing sugar, Sicilian cannoli and a little nutmeg with a dunnage warehouse note, cream and gentle smoke. The palate starts softly sweet and spicy, then turns to green apples and toasted oak with subtle peat. The finish is long, moving from oak and fruit to bourbon vanilla, with a light coastal minerality.
