Springbank 2001 is Vintage Batch 1 from the Campbeltown distillery, distilled in 2001 and bottled in 2009. It is bottled at 55.3% ABV in a 70cl bottle, with no filtration or colouring, and the release ran to 6000 bottles.
The whisky has an oily, intense character, with peat smoke sitting in the background.
On the palate there is a rich, oily texture with salty sea air, malt, honey and herbs, alongside citrus oil, dried fruit and creamy vanilla. The finish is long and dry, with wood, smoke and warm fruit.
