This is a 22 year old Springbank bottled by North Star, an independent bottler based in Glasgow, at 46%.
It comes from a single cask, a first-fill sherry hogshead. The spirit was distilled on 15 May 1998 and bottled in November 2020, filling 230 bottles.
The nose offers dark chocolate, light syrup, pickled figs, cinnamon and sweet pipe tobacco. On the palate there is a rush of spice like Christmas cake and gingerbread, with espresso, dark chocolate and English liquorice. The finish is dry, like dry sherry, with a spiced edge.
