This is a Springbank distilled in 1998 and bottled at 26 years old by the independent bottler Decadent Drinks. It is Chapter One of the Whiskyland series, which the bottler launched in 2024 as a collection of 100 chapters.
The whisky matured entirely in a first-fill sherry butt and was bottled at a cask strength of 56.8%, giving 550 bottles.
The nose brings pine resin, burnt wood, mango, raisins, pipe tobacco and tar. The palate is oily, with pepper, leather, cigar and salted butter caramel, and the finish is very long, with tobacco, leather and blood orange before a note of smoke.
