Hazelburn is the triple-distilled single malt made at Springbank in Campbeltown, first distilled there in 1997 and 1998. This 21 year old is the oldest Hazelburn the distillery has bottled to date.
It was matured 70% in ex-sherry casks and 30% in ex-bourbon casks.
The nose is strong caramel, molasses and toffee pudding, with creamy chocolate liqueur and a trace of ginger behind. The palate is robust and enveloping, with creamy marzipan, plums and choux pastry, and a slightly bitter note of dark chocolate. The long finish is creamy, with sandalwood and liquorice.
