Starward Fortis is an Australian single malt from the New World Whisky Distillery, bottled at 50% in a 70cl bottle. It is made from barley grown in the region, fermented with a yeast normally used in brewing beer.
The whisky matures in American oak casks from Barossa Valley wineries, which previously held Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz. It is non-chill-filtered.
The nose offers vanilla, toasted American oak, blackberry jam, raisins, caramelised figs and overripe plums. The palate brings vanilla, quince paste, Muscadelle raisins, chocolate, cinnamon and freshly baked banana bread. The finish is long and balanced, with baking spices, oak, ripe figs and raisins.
