Hakushu Story of the Distillery is a 2024 limited edition from the Hakushu Distillery, which stands in the Japanese Alps. Its water comes from nearby snow-capped mountains.
The whisky is made from malts aged in American oak, sherry and Japanese Mizunara oak casks, with Mizunara adding delicate spice. Together they give fresh herbal notes, light fruit and a subtle smokiness.
The nose offers fresh herbs, green apple and white flowers with a hint of soft smoke. The palate brings citrus zest, melon and a touch of vanilla, and the finish is clean, with lingering green tea and subtle oak spice.
