Suntory Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve (70cl, 43%)

Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve is a limited edition single malt from the Japanese Yamazaki distillery, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It carries no age statement. It is a vatted malt of three whiskies: a 3 year old malt that spent six months in ex-Bordeaux wine casks from Chateau Lagrange, an older malt of about 20 years from ex-sherry casks, and a malt of about 12 years from Mizunara (Japanese oak) casks. The nose shows peach, pineapple, grapefruit, clove, candied orange, vanilla and Mizunara. Coconut, cranberry and butter come through on the palate, followed by a long finish of sweet ginger and cinnamon.
