Sutherland (Clynelish) 8 Year Old Batch 002 Thompson Bros. (70cl, 48%)

This is an 8 year old Highland single malt from Clynelish, bottled by Thompson Bros. as Batch 002 of their Sutherland series. The independent bottler works in Dornoch, a few miles from the distillery. It is bottled at 48% ABV in a 70cl bottle, without added colour and without chill-filtration. It is not a smoky whisky. The nose combines bright citrus fruit and maritime air with a waxy, lightly oily character. On the palate there is lively minerality, fine honey sweetness, green fruit and an oily fullness. The finish is long, maritime and mineral, with a touch of spice.
