A 10-year-old single malt from Talisker, the distillery on the Isle of Skye, and its flagship bottling. It matured entirely in American oak ex-bourbon casks.
In the glass it is a clear, deep gold. The nose has sea wind, wet rope, peat smoke and a little seaweed, with citrus, apple, light honey, black pepper and smoking wood. The palate is oily and full, with roasted malt, caramel, sweet vanilla and stewed fruit, and a peppery heat that builds quickly. The finish is long, warming and smoky, with black pepper, sea salt, citrus zest and peat.
