Talisker 10 Year Old is a single malt from Skye's oldest working distillery, founded in 1830 by brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill. It is double distilled and aged for a minimum of 10 years in American oak casks.
The stills are replicas of the originals, with U-shaped lye pipes and worm tub cooling, which the distillery credits for its texture and character. The whisky is known for rich peat smoke and a peppery finish.
The nose has peat smoke, a hint of sea salt and oysters, and citrus sweetness. The palate is warming and intense, with dried fruit, smoke and barley malt, leading to a long, peppery finish with an appetising sweetness.
