This is Talisker Distillers Edition, a single malt from the oldest working distillery on Skye, founded in 1830 by Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill. The distillery was rebuilt after a fire in 1960, with replicas of the original stills. The whisky goes through a two-part maturation, which adds depth and complexity while keeping the character of the original malt. The nose is fresh sea air and seaweed with smoke, sweet malt and sultanas. The palate is oily-smooth, smoky, briny and sweet, turning peppery, with roasted fig, sweet date, peat smoke and sea salt.
