Tamdhu – 18 Years Old (70cl, 46.8%)

Tamdhu 18 Years Old is a Speyside single malt matured entirely in Oloroso sherry casks, rather than given a sherry finish at the end. The casks are a mix of American and European oak, with first-fill European oak casks making up the larger share. It was introduced in 2022, the year of the distillery's 125th anniversary, and is bottled at 46.8% in a 70cl bottle, without chill-filtering or added colour. On the nose it is dry and nutty, with cherries, plums, milk chocolate, rum-soaked raisins, citrus and baked oats. The palate is rich with sherry, vanilla, brown sugar, red apple and dried fruit. The long, warming finish brings dried apricots, dates, mild spice and stewed apple.
