Tamdhu – 21 Year Old (70cl, 47.5%)

This is a 21 year old Tamdhu from Speyside, bottled at 47.5% in a 70cl bottle. It is released once a year, with a worldwide outturn of 12,000 bottles. The whisky spends all 21 years in Oloroso sherry casks, mostly European oak with some American oak, and a mix of first-fill and refill casks. It has natural colour and is not chill-filtered. The nose brings sherried oak, sultanas and chocolate with warm cinnamon porridge, toffee, mocha and marzipan. The palate recalls rich fruit cake with sherry-soaked raisins and candied orange, growing drier and spicier with oak. The long finish offers waves of oak and spice, then sweet fruit and a little clove.
