Tamdhu – Quercus Alba Distinction Limited Release 03 (70cl, 48%)

Tamdhu Quercus Alba Distinction Limited Release 03 is a Speyside single malt matured entirely in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks made from American white oak. It was bottled at 48%, without chill-filtering or added colour. The Distinction series puts the lighter vanilla and fruit character of this oak in the foreground. The wood is air-dried and toasted in the Spanish sherry triangle, then the casks are seasoned with Oloroso over more than six years before they travel to Speyside. The nose combines butter pastry and vanilla cream with oak and citrus peel, with peppermint adding a cool edge. The palate is soft and full, with ripe plum and chocolate orange, and the long, warming finish brings sherried oak, dark cherries and honeycomb.
