Teeling – Wonder of Wood Portcask (70cl)

This is the second edition in Teeling's Wonders of Wood series, a single pot still from the Dublin distillery. The mash bill is half malted and half unmalted barley, and the spirit is distilled three times. The whole maturation takes place in virgin Portuguese oak. This oak is native to the Iberian Peninsula and has a higher tannin content than the oaks usually used for whisky. It is described as giving a pronounced savoury marmalade character, with warming hints of tobacco and pepper.
