Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 2022 Bolgheri (75cl)

Sassicaia is the Super Tuscan from Tenuta San Guido in Bolgheri, first made in 1968. Its name means 'the place of many stones', a reference to the gravelly, calcareous soils of galestro, pebbles and some clay. The vineyards face west and south-west. The 2022 vintage was hot, but Bolgheri's microclimate kept acidity and freshness in balance. The grapes were hand-harvested through September, ending with Cabernet Sauvignon from the hillside Vigna di Castiglioncello above 300 metres. Macerations lasted 13 to 18 days, followed by spontaneous malolactic fermentation.
