A 12 year old single malt from The Balvenie, bottled at 43% ABV. It began with an idea from apprentice maltmaster Kelsey McKechnie, who suggested bringing new oak casks over from Kentucky and toasting them deeply in the distillery's own cooperage.
Balvenie whisky that had matured in ex-bourbon oak was then filled into these casks for a further period of maturation.
The nose is malty with sweet fudge, citrus and oak vanilla, layered with ginger and cinnamon. On the palate come candied orange and lemon peel, vanilla toffee, butterscotch and blossom honey. The finish is rich and malty, with soft waves of vanilla and gentle spice.
