The Balvenie Double Wood 12 Year Old is a Speyside single malt from the distillery that stands close to Glenfiddich. It shows the house's double maturation technique and is sold in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky first matured for several years in ex-bourbon casks, then moved to ex-sherry casks for further years. That two-stage ageing gives the expression its name and, as it is described, brings softness and complexity.
