This is a 12-year-old Speyside single malt from The Balvenie, released in a 70cl bottle at 47.5% ABV as part of The 1931 Collection. The collection takes its inspiration from whisky filled into cask at The Balvenie in 1931, which went on to become an 88-year-old whisky.
The barley for this expression is malted entirely on the distillery's own traditional malting floor. The whisky matures in American oak, then finishes in European oak ex-sherry butts from Jerez.
The nose is freshly baked biscuit, honey and creamy toffee, with soft ginger. On the palate come honey, sweet barley and vanilla, with raisins and crystallised ginger, and the finish is long, warm and velvety.
