The Balvenie 14 Year Old Caribbean Cask is a Speyside single malt, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle.
After 14 years in traditional whisky oak casks, the whisky is finished in American oak casks that previously held a blend of West Indian rums. David C. Stewart devised the method: once the casks had taken on the influence of the rum, the rum was emptied out and replaced with the matured whisky.
The nose is sweet and creamy, with toffee, fresh fruit, vanilla and a little spice. On the palate come brown sugar, mango, passion fruit and light oak, and the finish is soft, warming and long, with crème brûlée, milk chocolate and a note of raisin.
