The Balvenie 14 Year Old Caribbean Cask is a Speyside single malt from Dufftown, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It is matured in traditional oak whisky casks, then finished in barrels that previously held West Indian rum.
The distillery blended its own rum to season those barrels before the whisky went in.
The nose brings rum-soaked raisins, vanilla pods and banana bread. The palate is silky and full-bodied, with toffee, tropical fruit and honey over toasted oak, and rum sweetness in the background. The finish is long and creamy, with brown sugar and gentle spice.
