The Balvenie 14 Years Caribbean Cask is a Speyside single malt given a rum finish. It was first released in the USA in 2012.
Malt Master David Stewart filled American oak casks with his own blend of three Caribbean rums, from Barbados, Jamaica and Trinidad. When he judged the casks ready, the rum was emptied out and 14-year-old Balvenie went in.
The nose is rich in tropical fruit, passion fruit in particular, with creamy toffee. On the palate sweet vanilla gives a creamy texture, with apples, mango and a hint of orange behind. The finish stays vanilla-led.
