The Balvenie 21 Year Old PortWood is a Speyside single malt Scotch whisky from Dufftown, bottled at 40% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
It matures for two decades in American oak barrels before a second maturation in 30-year-old port pipes. It was created by Malt Master David C. Stewart MBE, a pioneer of secondary cask finishing.
The nose brings red berries, honeycomb, aged oak and rosewater, with soft spice and a touch of leather. The palate is velvety, with dried fig, dark chocolate, walnut and ripe plum, then vanilla and cinnamon. The finish is long, with berry compote, oak spice and sweet malt.
