This is a 30 year old single malt from The Balvenie in Dufftown, Speyside. Long-matured whiskies from American oak casks and European sherry casks are married together, chosen by David C. Stewart MBE from the distillery's old stocks. The emphasis is on the interplay of different cask profiles rather than on a single cask. It is bottled at 44.2% in a 70cl bottle, chill-filtered and without added colour, and comes in a cylindrical tube.
The nose joins honey with gentle oak and a touch of candied orange peel. The palate is led by rich dark chocolate, with plum, marzipan and caramelised pear. The finish is notably soft and warming, with gentle spice alongside lasting sweetness.
