The Balvenie Caribbean Cask is a 14 year old Speyside single malt, bottled at 43% in a 70cl bottle. It spends fourteen years in American oak, then is finished in casks that once held Caribbean rum, which the malt master selects and seasons with a blend of rums.
The nose offers brown sugar, vanilla pods, banana bread, grilled pineapple and rum-soaked sponge, with a dash of citrus, soft oak and toffee. The palate is creamy, with rum-raisin fudge, spiced pear tart, mango, dried apricot, molasses and baking spices. The finish is long and mellow, with vanilla cream, charred oak, rum-soaked sultanas and a trace of soft spice and distant smoke.
