The Balvenie Port Wood Finish is a 21 year old single malt from Dufftown, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle. It is matured first in ex-bourbon American oak casks, then given a long final rest in seasoned Port pipes.
The colour is burnished copper with a faint rose hue. The nose combines stewed red fruits, dried fig and cherry compote with honey, toasted hazelnut, warm spice and orange peel. The palate is silky, with dark berry, date, sultana, spiced fruitcake, redcurrant and raspberry liqueur, followed by nutmeg, clove and a dusting of cocoa. The finish is long, with fruit skin, soft spice and toasted almond, ending on oak and cocoa.
