The Borders Distillery – 8 Year Old First Release Single Malt (70cl, 46%)

This is an 8 year old single malt from The Borders Distillery in Hawick, the first release from the first distillery to make single malt Scotch whisky in the Scottish Borders in over 200 years. It is an inaugural bottling of 10,000 bottles, at 46% in a 70cl bottle. The whisky was matured in first-fill bourbon barrels and then finished in Madeira casks. The bourbon wood brings caramel, vanilla and honey, while the Madeira finish adds sultana and dried fruit and a smooth close.
