The Epicurean Lowland Blended Malt (70cl, 46.2%)

The Epicurean is a Lowland blended malt that brings together malt whiskies from the east and west of the Lowlands. Douglas Laing marries it in small batches for the Remarkable Regional Malts series, and the figure on the label is a Glasgow bon viveur of the 1930s. It is bottled at 46.2% in a 70cl bottle, non-chill-filtered and without added colouring. On the nose, pronounced barley meets citrus fruit, blossom and herbs. The palate is sweet, with crushed sugar and boiled sweets, toasted citrus, mixed spice, thyme and peach. The finish returns to herbs, joined by cereal, almonds, fresh-cut grass and burnt sugar.
