The Essence of Suntory Whisky Yamazaki 11 Year Old Islay Peated Malt (50cl, 54%)

This is an 11 year old single malt from the Yamazaki Distillery, the fifth release in The Essence of Suntory Whisky series, which came out on 31 August 2021. It is in a 50cl bottle at 54% ABV. The malted barley was dried using peat from the Isle of Islay, and the whisky was matured in American oak. The label carries black calligraphy inspired by the Japanese character for wheat. The nose is powerful peat with a distinct note of the sea. The palate is smooth, with a lingering sweetness. The finish is long, fragrant and peaty.
