Yamazaki Distiller's Reserve is a single malt from the Japanese distillery of Yamazaki, bottled without an age statement.
It is made from a blend of casks: American oak, Spanish sherry and a portion of Japanese Mizunara oak. The aim is a fruit-led take on the Yamazaki house style, with gentle spice and the incense-like note that Mizunara wood gives.
The nose is fragrant and delicate, with strawberry, raspberry, cherry blossom and honey. On the palate it is light to medium in body, with red berries, peach and orange marmalade, then cinnamon and coconut. The finish is medium and slightly dry.
