The Firkin Whisky Co. Benrinnes Madeira Cask 12YO 2008 Single Malt Scotch Whisky (70cl, 48.9%)

This is a 12 year old Benrinnes single malt Scotch whisky from The Firkin Whisky Co., bottled at 48.9% in a 70cl bottle. It was matured in a custom-made Madeira cask of French and American oak. Benrinnes is known for a weighty distillate and a meaty mouthfeel. The distillery moved from triple to double distillation in 2007, and this run comes from the newer period. The nose offers honeyed Ovaltine, straw bale and fruit pastries. The palate is full and malty, with spice and drying oak, and the finish shows mild astringency and a grassy, gristy note that a splash of water softens.
