The GlenDronach 50 Year Old is a single malt distilled in 1971 and the oldest the distillery has released. It was bottled at a natural cask strength of 43.8% in a 70cl bottle, and 198 bottles were released, each hand-numbered.
It matured for five decades in Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks, which were then married for a final maturation in a single Pedro Ximénez cask.
The nose has ripe dark cherry and plum, developing into stone fruits, with tobacco, sage, bramble, orange and cranberry. On the palate come dark chocolate, tobacco and cocoa.
