The GlenDronach Port Wood Finish is a ten-year-old Highland single malt, bottled at 46% ABV in a 70cl bottle. The whisky had a second maturation of three years in port pipes chosen by the distillery, a nod to the casks of port shipped from Portugal to Scotland in the 19th century.
The distillery is best known for pairing its Highland spirit with Pedro Ximénez and Oloroso sherry casks. This expression takes a different route, through port.
The nose offers Victoria plum, bramble and strawberry jam, with cherry blossom, honeysuckle, sandalwood and ginger. On the palate come blackberry, roasted apple crumble and gingerbread, then orange peel, sultana and cherry cake into a richly fruity finish.
