The Glenlivet French Oak Reserve is a 15 year old Speyside single malt, bottled at 40% in a 70cl bottle.
Part of the spirit is matured in French oak casks made from Limousin oak, cut in the Dordogne region, where the wood is often used for maturing cognac. Its low density lets the whisky sink deep into the wood, and the time in cask is controlled so the oak does not overpower the whisky. The aim is a rich, exotic character with a pleasing spiciness.
