The Glenrothes 25 Year Old, known as The 25, is a Speyside single malt from the Rothes distillery, which has been making whisky since 1879. It is bottled at 43% ABV in a 70cl bottle.
The whisky matured for twenty-five years in first-fill and refill sherry-seasoned Spanish oak casks. The distillery runs its stills slowly and uses tall-necked stills.
The nose is rich with tropical fruit, mango and pineapple, along with vanilla pod, cinnamon and orange peel. The palate is velvety, with ripe mango, melon and cedar wood, balanced by vanilla, nutmeg and a sherry richness. The finish is very long, with tropical fruit sweetness, gentle oak spice and a dry close.
