The Glenrothes – Sherry Cask Reserve (70cl)

The Glenrothes Sherry Cask Reserve is a single malt matured in sherry casks. The distillery uses sherry casks for every variety except Alba Reserve, which is matured in ex-bourbon wood. The casks are mostly European oak, which brings the resinous and dried-nut character on which the sherry notes are built. Maturity, rather than age, is the focus here. In colour it is bright gold. The nose offers orange peel, fruit cake, black cherries and a hint of pear. The palate brings ginger, oak and crème brûlée, and the finish lingers with orange peel.
