This is a Highland single malt Scotch whisky from The Glenturret, which the distillery describes as Scotland's oldest working distillery. It is made from peated malted barley and aged for at least ten years in a mix of European and American oak casks.
The whisky draws on the historic use of peat in Highland whisky making.
The nose combines sweet peat smoke with citrus peel, vanilla pod, heather honey and toasted oak. On the palate it is smoky and sweet, with campfire embers, apple, dark chocolate, lemon zest and baking spices. The finish is long, with peat smoke, gentle oak tannins and dried fruit.
