The Glenturret – Peat Smoked 7 Year Old

This is a seven year old peated single malt from The Glenturret in the Highlands, offered as a way into the distillery's peat-smoked whisky. It was matured in American oak, which gives the clear smoky character, with European oak adding sweeter, fruitier tones. Refill casks bring out the peated new make spirit and lead to a citrus nose that moves towards sweet fruit on the palate. The notes describe wisps of smoke from burning peat embers, citrus fruit and creamy vanilla, with sweet fruit and peat woven through toasted oak into a soft finish.
