The Liberator Malt x Moscatel Storehouse Special Cask Strength (70cl, 55.7%)

This is a cask strength Irish single malt from The Liberator, bottled in a 70cl bottle at 55.7% ABV as a Storehouse Special single cask. It is neither chill-filtered nor coloured. The malt was double distilled in 2016 and matured first in ex-bourbon casks. Maurice O'Connell filled cask 5066 with it in 2021 and bottled a first edition after seven months. He then refilled the same cask with the same 2016 malt, which matured for a further 35 months before bottling in 2025. The cask is a Moscatel sherry cask that he acquired after visiting a Spanish bodega. The nose brings woody spice, toasted nuts and dark fruit, with orange blossom, honeysuckle and dried orange peel. The palate is floral and citrusy with spice, over a grassy, earthy background and tropical fruit. The finish is long, with spice and tropical fruit.
