The Liberator Storehouse Special Malt x Sauternes Finish (70cl, 56.6%)

A triple-distilled Irish single malt finished in a fresh Sauternes cask, bottled under The Liberator Storehouse name by Wayward Irish Spirits. The whisky was distilled in 2017 and moved into the Sauternes cask in July 2021, where it stayed for around four and a half years. Maurice O'Connell followed its progress with regular cask samples. In October 2025 he lowered the strength from 57.8% to 56.6%, to balance the malt, the cask and the alcohol. It contains no added colouring and comes in a 70cl bottle. The nose offers dried cherries and figs with citrus zest. On the palate, toasted malt and hazelnut meet winey sweetness, with blackberry, dried kiwi and blood orange zest. The finish is warm and spicy, with crystallised ginger, pepper and citrus.
