The Oamaruvian Doublewood 4 Year Old Cask Strength (50cl, 52.4%)

The Oamaruvian Doublewood is a four year old New Zealand single malt, distilled in Dunedin in 2017 and bottled in February 2022 at a cask strength of 52.4%. It comes from cask 1180, in 552 numbered bottles of 50cl. The whisky first matured in American ex-bourbon casks. It then received a finish in Oamaru, in French oak casks that previously held New Zealand red wine. It is non-chill-filtered and has no added colour. Dried fruit, soft spice and maritime touches run through it, along with toffee and a little tannin. The nose is floral. The palate shows rich toffee and a mouthfeel reminiscent of cream soda. The finish carries a hint of sea spray.
